Hello! How can we help you?

What are the disadvantages of routing rollator brake cables inside the frame tube instead of outside?

Routing brake cables inside the rollator frame tube creates a cleaner appearance and reduces the risk of snagging, but it also has several disadvantages compared to external routing. Internal cables are more difficult to access, which makes inspection, adjustment, and replacement more time-consuming and often requires professional servicing. The cable path inside the frame can introduce tighter bends, increasing friction and potentially reducing brake responsiveness over time. Moisture can enter the frame tube and become trapped, leading to corrosion that is hard to detect before braking performance is affected. In addition, internal routing increases manufacturing complexity and repair costs, and because wear or damage is not easily visible, brake problems may go unnoticed until they become more serious.

For these reasons, all Trionic Rollators feature externally routed brake cables. This design allows for smoother cable paths, more consistent braking performance, easy inspection and maintenance, faster servicing, and improved long-term reliability—especially important for outdoor use and everyday walking where safety and dependability are critical.
