VAT Relief
VAT Exemption for the disabled
Please be aware of the fact that most of the prices shown are VAT exclusive, as the majority of our customers qualify for VAT exemption. VAT exemption allows chronically sick or disabled persons to buy eligible mobilityaids at 0% VAT, thus saving money when buying a walking aid and/or accessories for it.
In order to be eligible for VAT exemption the British government states that you must fit the following criteria;
A person is "chronically sick or disabled" if he/she is a person:
- with a physical or mental impairment which has a long-term and substantial adverse effect upon his/her ability to carry out everyday activities;
- with a condition which the medical profession treats as a chronic sickness, such as diabetes; or
- who is terminally ill.
The British government's statement for VAT excemption does not apply for a frail elderly person who is otherwise able-bodied or any person who is only temporarily disabled or incapacitated, such as with a broken limb.
In order to receive VAT exemption on your purchase, the government requires a simple declaration to be made as to the nature of your disability at the time of ordering. No proof of your disability need to be shown to any party at any time.
It is very easy to claim VAT exemption, and all Trionic needs to know as the seller/supplier, is the name and address of the person the product is intended for and a description of her/his chronic sickness or disability.
The above information can be provided during the online order process, or throuh a short e-mail before or during the ordering process.
If you are unsure if you qualify for VAT excemtion, just get in touch with us and we'll give you advise.
For charities – simply provide your charity number.
Important Notes
We do not decide if an item is or is not VAT exempt.
If you do not state the name of the person the product is intended for and a description of her/his illness and/or disability, or e-mail us your reason for VAT exemption, or if you are not eligible for VAT exemption, Trionic is obliged to charge the full VAT amount on your order.
