Hello! How can we help you?

How do I replace the grips on a Veloped from 2008-2014?

Older Veloped models (2008–2014) have the handlebar welded to the frame, which means the grips cannot simply be slid off the front like on newer models. Instead, the old grips must be cut off and replaced.

Step-by-step instructions

Remove the screw from the folding joint of the handle arch and open the folding joint.

  1. Cut off and remove the old foregrips.
  2. Cut off and remove the old main handles.
  3. Remove the brake levers.
  4. Install the new main handles.
  5. Reinstall the brake levers.
  6. Install the new foregrips.
  7. Close the folding joint and tighten the screw.

Tip for installing new grips

To make it easier to slide the new grips onto the handle arch, apply a small amount of hairspray (which dries after assembly) or pure alcohol to reduce friction during installation.
