Veloped User Guide

Trionic Veloped

The Veloped has a unique 3-wheel design, but as you can see it has in fact four wheels. It’s aimed to be used as a walking aid, especially for people with the desire to be physically active outdoors. Developed with a focus on walking and facilitating access for the user, the Veloped is one of a kind. Its main characteristic is a dual front wheel with the capacity to overcome obstacles up to 15 cm high (14" wheels). The force required to overcome a smaller obstacle is also greatly reduced, when compared to a traditional wheel. The 3-wheel design, coupled with the front wheel’s suspension and the air-filled tyres, increases both comfort and accessibility on all uneven surfaces.

The Veloped is tested and approved according to the international standard ISO-11199-2:2005, for a maximum user weight of 150 kg.

Safety

  • Both brakes should be locked in parking mode before you use the seat.
  • Before you start walking with the Veloped, make sure it’s completely unfolded.
  • Be extra careful in steep terrain and on slanting ground.
  • The stability of the Veloped is tested with a basket load of 5 kg. If you load additional weight to the basket, make sure to distribute the weight evenly in the basket.

Correct Grip Height

How to set the correct height of your Veloped

Many rollator users set the grips too high, thinking that it will promote a more upright posture. But this actually worsens the posture, and it affects the stability negatively.

You can determine the correct Veloped grip height by doing as follows, as recommended by all physiotherapists and all rollator manufacturers:

  1. Stand upright with your back as straight as possible, with your shoes on and with your arms hanging in a relaxed state along your body (elbow slightly bent).
  2. Measure the vertical distance from the floor to the wrist bone = recommended grip height.

With the grips at wrist height:

  • You do not have to raise your shoulders, and you can unload a greater part of your body weight.
  • You can walk closer to the hand grips, which results in a more upright body posture.
  • A more vertical weight distribution (downwards) improves both the stability and the brake performance.

First Time Use

Change Front Wheel Setting: Easy-steering mode/Lower position:/Direction-steady mode/Upper position:

The wheel has two different settings: one for easy steering and one for direction-steady mode. There is an adjustment handle on the front wheel, placed between the wheels, that can be shifted between these two settings.

Easy-steering mode/Lower position::

Offers easy turning with retained climbing capacity.

Direction-steady mode/Upper position::

Offers increased climbing capacity, suspension on uneven surfaces and a higher directional stability. The Veloped is more difficult to steer, but it performs better off-road.

It's got me, my dogs &my legs out again
Love it, kerbs no problem, hills no problem. I have had trouble with a kissing gate!! Thought I might be stuck in it, collapsed it and took it through like an upside down tripod. Have fixed 2 cable ties 4 cane holder.

Trionic Veloped
Having seen the veloped advertised in Saga magazine and being not very happy with my current rollator (small solid tyres) I ordered the Trionic. Very impressed with the ordering and delivery process. On unpacking and assembling the device (very easy assembly) i went for a walk - it was brilliant. So manoeverable and coped with kerbs and pavements. Really came into it's own when I went to a food festival in the local park. No problem on grass and uneven surfaces. My five year old great-grandson was delighted that I could give him a ride home on it too. Absolutely delighted and I do hand out the cards to anyone that shows an interest. It is a credit to Swedish design and manufacturing

The Veloped Trek has enabled me to visit the beach regularly- something I hadn’t been able to do for a long time. I have also been to an outdoor festival and was able to travel around the fields to see the stalls and the bands in the music tents. The rough terrain mode is really good- also being able to fold up the Veloped to get through narrow spaces, for instance, in restaurants, has been fantastic. Many people have inquired about the Veloped and have been fascinated by the engineering. The Veloped has made lots of friends in Wales already. Really pleased to have it, and it’s definitely changed things for me by giving me more access to the outdoors and boosting my confidence.

A great walking aid
The Veloped arrived well packed and in perfect condition within a very short time. It was super easy to set it up for use: it was ready in 5 minutes!
My husband loves it and uses it every time he walks. Since then, he has been able to walk twice the distance much more effortlessly without any discomfort. The fact that he can lean on the small seat is a big advantage, as it makes him independent from (lack of) benches.
The amazing sporty design and manoeuvrability are also decisive for my husband, because he is demanding and definitely did not want a "normal" rollator...
All in all, the Veloped is a total success!
We congratulate the manufacturers and thank them for this truly valuable invention.
We recommend it 100%.
Petra Steiner
A big piece of extra freedom
I am very satisfied with the Veloped Trek!
My shoulders and arms, which used to get all the shocks from every unevenness of the ground with a quite good but common rollator, could now relax. It is also very smooth, and walking is no longer so strenuous. I can finally get around on forest paths or by the pond with my two dogs. A clear improvement in my quality of life.
With the help of the Veloped, I was even able to pass the guide dog aptitude test on an uneven meadow with my American Miniature Schnauzer.
The only thing I find a bit complicated is loading it into the car, as I have a problem with the base of my thumb pulling forcefully when removing the rear tyres - the spokes could be a bit more grippy for this - I only manage to press the button and then pull the wheel off with difficulty.
I also don't have an umbrella to go with it.
It was a very good decision to treat myself to the Veloped.
Elaine Steed
Good solid rollator and well built
This has been a godsend as I have a balance problem (among other things). With this instead of my walking stick I can keep up with family and friends instead of hanging on to them! I can now walk faster than I have for years!

The only issue I have is with the seat. The backrest is just too close to the back of the seat making a comfortable seating position impossible. I am only 5’1” and my feet don’t reach the ground making it even more uncomfortable. I go to a lot of music festivals in the summer so end up sitting down for a few hours at a time. I will need to keep my old rollator for those days (which has a really comfortable seat) which I was hoping to pass on to somebody else.

Other than that I’m very happy with it and would recommend it if you don’t need to sit down for long periods. It’s great for walking!
William Roberts
Excellent Product, well thought out
This is an excellent product, once you have got over the price! There is not another like it on the market. The pneumatic tyres make a huge difference, especially on rough or non-existent roads. It's actually worth it. The brakes are not the best, the designers could learn something from the many others who are using the loop design of brakes with a different mechanism for locking.
All in all, an excellent product.
Rachel Jamieson
Getting back into the garden
The Veloped Trek has allowed me to get back into the garden, see the plants, even prune an overgrown bush, hang out washing (exciting) and just experience my large backyard again.

MS limits me in many ways, so the ability to safely walk on grass and uneven surfaces without having to wrestle with a standard walker that gets stuck on the smallest obstacle is a joy.

I’m looking forward to having the Veloped on a beach holiday soon to see where it can take me!

Trionic Veloped Trek
There is really only one thing to say about my Veloped Trek and that is FABULOUS. The design and engineering are just superb - you have thought of everything. My Trek has absolutely changed my life and although I have not had it very long, I am now able to walk over the fields with my dogs, which is something I thought I would never do again. I am getting stronger every day. I will send you a photo soon but in the meantime THANK YOU!

Fantastic, it gives me the confidence to get out and about. I am still able to walk and it’s prevented me having to go in a wheelchair.

I am absolutely delighted with my Trionic Veloped Trek which I have named Vera !
I have Cerebellar Ataxia and I was struggling to keep my balance with a pole. I love walking in the woods and Riverside paths which I have been unable to do for the past 6 years. I have found that I walk more upright and I no longer fall if I get distracted by the scenery or people passing me from behind. It has allowed me to be sociable as I can walk with friends again and I find people stop and admire Vera.

I regularly take her on the Wensleydale heritage railway where I volunteer. I have yet to brave taking her on public transport. I find it easy to get Vera in the boot of my car by removing just the front wheel and releasing part of the back seat. The best thing is it meets my needs by providing me with a secure base but also, I really like the fact it looks sporty rather than disability aid.

The Veloped has been everything I hoped for. At only 59 I was keen to have something that looked modern and trendy whilst still providing me with the support I need when walking. I have used it for short trips to the shop and also on a riverside walk which is quite a rough terrain and I managed well, apart from a British stile which we had to lift over.
Sorry, no photos yet.

Finally one that does what it should.
I now own three rollators. This is my first one from Trionic. The first rollator from another company sounded like clanging metal as I walked along. It also got caught on all the broken pavements where I live and was therefore unstable. The second one from another company didn't make the awful noise but still got caught on all the dodgy pavements where I live. Then the frame would tip forward and slam back down onto my shins. I got fed up with being bruised by the very equipment that was supposed to help me stay on my feet. Clearly where I live is so badly maintained that I needed an all-terrain utter monster of a rollator just to walk along the pavements.

The Veloped Trek did not disappoint. It laughs in the face of upturned paving slabs and stupid drop kerbs that haven't been made properly. Bonus-because it has wheels bigger than my head, I can take it into the woods. (Which appear to be flatter than the pavements!)

The only downside is that I sometimes lurch from side to side and as it's a three-wheeler, it sometimes lurches with me, but it is still stable enough for me to recover. I do need narrower hips to sit comfortably in the seat, but I'm working on that!

The Veloped is a life changer
I have been meaning to contact you to let you know what a life changer my Trionic Veloped has been. It has enabled me to go onto areas such as the beach where I live without risk of falling. Has given me independence and confidence. This is a photo of myself and a new ‘confirmed’ famous artist Banksy spray stencil painting which he has done in Cromer where my family and I live. He did a ‘spraycation’ a short time ago across the Norfolk Coast, England.

Thank you

I’m thrilled with this!
Transformed my life! Yes, I did get out before but was very unsteady and was always concerned that I might need to sit down and there was nowhere to sit (unfortunately I can’t sit on the ground!). Now I no longer have these concerns! My confidence has gone right up and I am not fazed by uneven country trails, fields etc! Absolutely great!!

Great, exactly as I expected
I am simply thrilled. Thanks to Veloped I have regained a piece of normal life. Finally, I can walk on the beach again. The assembly is very simple and disconnecting the wheels for transport by car is not very difficult: just a click and it is done! Thanks to the instalment plan from Klarna, anyone can treat themselves to the Veloped. I am very satisfied.

Excellent experience of Trionic and the Veloped Trek
I have recently purchased a Veloped Trek directly from Trionic and have been delighted with the process and the product. Stefan at Trionic kept me updated about the shipping timescales, and the Veloped arrived on time, with full, clear, and easy to follow instructions. The Trek is a joy to use and has enabled me to walk safely and confidently on the grass and through woodland - something that was impossible with my old, conventional rollator.

I wholeheartedly recommend Trionic and the Veloped - they have offered me an opportunity to enjoy again the activities that I had been deprived of by a neurological injury. My Trek feels less like a walking aid and more like a trusted companion - I can now look forward to leaving the house and to enjoying the great outdoors!

Great experience all the way around!
I've taken my trek miles on the desert and it'll go anywhere. The training is bringing me to the point where I can walk without it. Even when I had flats from goathead thorns--the bane of all OTR cyclists--they were easily fixed at a bike store. Trionic is a pleasure to deal with.

New lease of life
I am 84, and have a crooked spine as a result of a motor accident five years ago, which means that it is painful for me to hold myself upright. I had not been able to take my daily walk for the last few months, and I had been unable to stand and chat with people. Since not walking, I have felt weaker in myself.
I have had my Veloped for a week, and find it enables me to walk upright and quite quickly. It copes well with my gravel drive, rough grass and the bumpy country lane where I live. If I meet a friend, it supports me while I stand and chat.
I live in such a windy place that any garden benches I placed in nice places to sit were blown away, and had to be put under shelter. I can now walk to my pond and sit and watch the wild life with my Veloped.
I am looking forward to discovering more things that have become possible for me again, such as going to exhibitions, to markets and so on.
I am very grateful to have found such a well-designed walking aid which is so much more than that.

An Excellent aid
Good website. Friendly, competent salespeople at the company.
The site's order form did not work.

Veloped is an excellent tool. Stable and at the same time, handy with a nice look. Surprisingly, not all rolling aids for people with disabilities are manufactured according to Veloped's principles.
