Veloped User Guide

Trionic Veloped

The Veloped has a unique 3-wheel design, but as you can see it has in fact four wheels. It’s aimed to be used as a walking aid, especially for people with the desire to be physically active outdoors. Developed with a focus on walking and facilitating access for the user, the Veloped is one of a kind. Its main characteristic is a dual front wheel with the capacity to overcome obstacles up to 15 cm high (14" wheels). The force required to overcome a smaller obstacle is also greatly reduced, when compared to a traditional wheel. The 3-wheel design, coupled with the front wheel’s suspension and the air-filled tyres, increases both comfort and accessibility on all uneven surfaces.

The Veloped is tested and approved according to the international standard ISO-11199-2:2005, for a maximum user weight of 150 kg.

Safety

  • Both brakes should be locked in parking mode before you use the seat.
  • Before you start walking with the Veloped, make sure it’s completely unfolded.
  • Be extra careful in steep terrain and on slanting ground.
  • The stability of the Veloped is tested with a basket load of 5 kg. If you load additional weight to the basket, make sure to distribute the weight evenly in the basket.

Correct Grip Height

How to set the correct height of your Veloped

Many rollator users set the grips too high, thinking that it will promote a more upright posture. But this actually worsens the posture, and it affects the stability negatively.

You can determine the correct Veloped grip height by doing as follows, as recommended by all physiotherapists and all rollator manufacturers:

  1. Stand upright with your back as straight as possible, with your shoes on and with your arms hanging in a relaxed state along your body (elbow slightly bent).
  2. Measure the vertical distance from the floor to the wrist bone = recommended grip height.

With the grips at wrist height:

  • You do not have to raise your shoulders, and you can unload a greater part of your body weight.
  • You can walk closer to the hand grips, which results in a more upright body posture.
  • A more vertical weight distribution (downwards) improves both the stability and the brake performance.

First Time Use

Change Front Wheel Setting: Easy-steering mode/Lower position:/Direction-steady mode/Upper position:

The wheel has two different settings: one for easy steering and one for direction-steady mode. There is an adjustment handle on the front wheel, placed between the wheels, that can be shifted between these two settings.

Easy-steering mode/Lower position::

Offers easy turning with retained climbing capacity.

Direction-steady mode/Upper position::

Offers increased climbing capacity, suspension on uneven surfaces and a higher directional stability. The Veloped is more difficult to steer, but it performs better off-road.

Finally more freedom of movement and safety
After several health challenges, I find walking difficult, especially on uneven surfaces. I hardly ever went outside anymore. I particularly missed walking in the woods. Now my family has ordered me the Veloped Sport. At last I can go for a walk outside even in bad weather. The brakes work great and the easy steering is also excellent. The only thing that is a little difficult is transporting it in the car. It's also nice that I can take our dogs with me. I am delighted that the Veloped has improved my quality of life again.

We are very !!! satisfied with the Veloped.
My 94-year-old mother walks 4 to 6 km a day with it in her beloved forest, it is easy to drive / steer, bumps are mastered without any problems, my mother is grateful, no longer feels as ‘shaken’ as with the old ordinary outdoor rollator.

Suggestion for improvement: install shock absorbers.

We are often asked what a sporty and appealing ‘vehicle’ my mum has and we always recommend it to others.
All the best to you
James Shand
Brilliant!
The Veloped Sport is an absolutely brilliant machine which has completely changed my life.
I had another make of four wheeled walker, which was not comfortable to use and if I hit a small obstacle it felt as though I would go over the top of it.
No such problems with the Veloped; it tackles all sorts of obstacles in its path without any feeling of instability. This is truly the best walker on the market.
It's not cheap, but worth every penny!
I refer to it as my Rolls-Royce.

On the the whole I am pleased with the my Veloped purchase but having been away have had much use of it yet. However I do find the brakes a little limp/wobbly so if you could suggest anything that may help please let me know? Would like to buy a couple of accessories as disabled and live alone would you please let me know how I will recognize when a tyre needs pumping up or is it similar to a car and or is it similar to a car visibly starts to go flat.

The Trionic Veloped came into our lives...
The Trionic Veloped came into our lives and has made many things easier. It's now fun to go for walks "like we used to" again.

I can highly recommend the Veloped.

Superb product.
I love my Veloped Sport 14er M. Without it I would struggle to even go out. Yes, they are expensive, but what price do you put on your health? I mostly use it to walk round our town but I have used it in my local wood where it was great. I recently used it on a pebble beach with no problems. It certainly does climb kerbs very well. It is very easy to remove the wheels to put in a car. Lots of people talk to me about it as it stands out. My only minor quibble is why not have linked brakes? Going downhill would be so much easier. This however is a very minor problem. I would recommend anyone with walking problems to splash out and buy one and enjoy it.

Velopad is the freedom to go anywhere and everywhere at anytime.
The Velopad Sport 14er is a transformative experience. Drives like a car with incredible suspension. I took it through a country lane around the roughest area in terms of the pedestrian environment in my home city. The “Rafa terminator” performed like a dream!! Named after my dog/partner Rafael Nadal my walking companion this incredible Velopad is the freedom to go anywhere and everywhere at anytime. The term rollator or walker under sells its real value. Travel the roughest terrain with ease, and silence, no jingle noise to upset you or your friends or in my case Rafa in the middle of your adventures. It’s a worthwhile investment when you consider the freedom it delivers and the independence and dignity we all need.

I am delighted with my Sport
The machine is exactly as described in the literature and on the website. It's really solid and stands up to life on a livestock farm. I doesn't often get on tarmac, it's mostly used on rough fields, farm yards and rough cart tracks. It worked perfectly, straight out of the box and I am very happy that I bought it. I have advanced Rheumatoid Arthritis and spinal stenosis, but I can get about more often and for longer than I could using sticks.

No problems at the beach
I have always been fit and healthy until 2 years ago. An accident at work put an end to that. I now have an inexplicable pain in my leg and back that makes walking almost impossible. After using some granny walkers, Trionic came up via Google. I had to have the Veloped. Now a few months later I am so happy with my Veloped. I no longer have to pay attention to bumps and I even tested it at the beach of Texel. Like a hot knife through butter, I flew over that beach so that I could finally get to the sea without help. Delicious!!! For a life change, it is actually very cheap!!

Happy Customer!
In these difficult times, I just wanted to say thank you to Trionic for the safe delivery of my sturdy Trionic Veloped Sport brought to me on time by UPS. The Veloped is an excellent product. I am delighted with it. It helps me get around my garden, field, and up my gravel and cobblestone drive. We do not have a small dog to sit in the front pouch, but find it useful to carry our pre lunch sherry to a seat in the sun!

A super support and aid
A great aid that helps me get out into nature!
Super.

Reliable pack donkey
The Veloped works great as a carrying aid when shopping and you have heavy groceries to bring home. In the store you don't need a shopping trolley; you just grab a basket and place it on the seat for the groceries, pay in the register and it carries it all home. There, the Veloped is a very handy and a great aid. However, we don't think it's fully functional as a walker for an elderly person.

It can feel wobbly since it doesn't have a wheel in each ""corner"", and it gets heavy when pushing uphill. Furthermore, we've tested the off-road driving, with all the wheels on the ground. Then turning gets difficult, and driving gets heavy for one who doesn't have so much own force to steer. The final verdict is that tie Veloped is best suited for someone who still has some balance and strength left.

All in all an excellent carrying aid for me who is in my 50's and has back issues and difficulties with heavy carrying, but not of any interest for my 95-year-old mother, who for the above-mentioned reasons prefers her regular walker.

Veloped Sport
I have had my Veloped Sport for four months. I don't use it in normal daily life because I force myself to walk around hands-free. Due to many operations, it is difficult for me to keep my upper body upright. It is tiring and requires an extreme amount of energy and willpower. To improve my situation once again, I bought a Veloped on the recommendation of my doctor at the rehabilitation clinic. It allows me to complete longer distances in an almost upright position, and I now do this whenever I have the time and the opportunity. There is one small negative point, however, because it is relatively heavy. It takes a lot of effort and training to load and unload the Veloped into and out of the car. Since I have to do this for every use, I am now quite good at it. But this would never be a reason to give up my beloved training device. Who knows, maybe one day I will be able to walk upright again without any help.

Thank you very much, guys from Trionic,

Hanne-Lore from Hamburg, Germany

Ladies and gentlemen…
Ladies and gentlemen, I am very satisfied with my Veloped, it has fulfilled all my wishes. No extreme conditions in the mountains and big obstacles could stop me.
The seat is not optimal because the arch is not round and too hard.

Great walker. All as I hoped for.
I am very pleased with my purchase. It causes quite a stir when I am around town with it. People ask, where is the engine?
It is lighter than I imagined and I can lift it in and out of the car without taking off the wheels.
There is a squeak coming from one of the rear wheels. Is it ok to lubricate the wheel? If so, what oil should be used and where do I put it?
My main reason for buying the Veloped was its brakes as I have a very, very steep drive. The Veloped manages to hold me back so I can walk down the driveway.
Regards, Maggie.

I am more than satisfied with my Veloped – it gives me the necessary support and stability I need, and I can walk long distances over any terrain with it. Especially because of my MS disease, it prevents balance problems and falls, I can make my everyday life easier with it.

Excellent quality and handling.
Good sense of security when walking. Runs smoothly and steadily even off-road, on uneven paths and on curbs. This product can be recommended without reservation.

Veloped Sport 14er M
This product is of superb quality. However, the Veloped is not very easy to steer when both front wheels are grounded. Furthermore, based on my personal experience, it is not suitable for someone with a serious balance problem as in certain conditions it is very difficult to control. For someone with a balance problem, the Trionic Rollator would be a better option.

Hi Stefan & Johan, buying Your product was for me a life-changing decision after * years of increasing difficulty with walking
Hi Stefan & Johan,

In April of this year, I ordered a Veloped Sport 14er M, having been impressed by your informative advertising material.

As promised my Veloped arrived within two weeks. It was well packaged in a sturdy box & only needed the wheels to be attached using clear and easy instructions. Once assembled I took my Veloped for its first spin. I found it easy to bump up curbs, go along cobbled roads and go off the paths and over grass in the parks near my house. The most impressive thing about this first outing was that it encouraged me to go twice my normal distance.

The Veloped is a well-designed, robust, but light product so it is easy to push depending on the surface.

I have walked with my Veloped on uneven woodland paths with tree roots and stones, and also on the beach.

Since having my Veloped my walking has improved and having had my spinal decompression surgery three weeks ago, I am starting to walk longer and longer distances unaided.

Maybe, if I gain more confidence in my unaided ability, I will be able to pass my Veloped on to one of the many admirers of the wheeled walker community I regularly meet on my outings!

Thank you for developing such a great product,

Angus

An efficient and reliable delivery…
An efficient and reliable delivery service.
I have a dropped foot and weak muscle power in legs. The Veloped has made walking over most terrain a possibility and has returned to me the joy of taking walks. Apart from pushing uphill definitely improves posture by requiring you to stand upright. On a walk along the beach only yesterday was admired by a gentleman who remarked that his late wife who suffered from a type of MS had one which gave her much improved mobility and that this was the first time he had seen another one.
Very rare to be able to recommend something without reservation.

Veloped Sport 14er M
I do enjoy my Trionic Veloped. However, I think the seat depth could be improved by making the rear verticals slightly further back (which would probably involve major costs!). Also, I do not find the front wheel combination very helpful and have considered removing one front wheel which would also reduce the front weight. The brakes are superb. Perhaps you might attempt a special model for gardeners.

Life-quality
With the Veloped, I have gained in Life-quality. It allows me more freedom of movement without joint pain and gives me much more confidence than a conventional walker. I can walk in the woods again, go to the beach and finally go again with my feet in the Baltic or the North Sea. Thus, a piece of normalcy was restored.

Using both front wheels at the same time is difficult for me in terms of strength (81 years old), so steering is also difficult. It would be beneficial to have a permanent cover for the basket. Assembling it with my hands is difficult.

Just in case, the rain cover and the air pump can be stored in the small bag.
I don't want to be without the Veloped anymore, it is of great value for my mobility and my ability to participate.

Thanks for this idea.

Aircraft Engineering Quality
With increasing years and ending up with one leg shorter than the other after a hip replacement, (This was the result of a breakage after a fall.) I felt I needed help with my stability when walking. I went through the natural progress of Zimmer frame, crutches, walking sticks - and I tried hiking poles. Walking progress was slow and confidence not completely restored. I then saw a Trionic advert - 'That was for me!'

I have been totally delighted with the Veloped Sport 14er. Before even trying it, one's confidence was immediately assured with the standard of engineering. I spent 40 years as a pilot and the Veloped matched the engineering of the aircraft I flew.

Use followed and that has been a month now, and my anticipation of quality and design have been reassured. Superb. It rises to all the promises of support in adverse conditions.
I am totally delighted with the Veloped. It was a good present to myself for my 88th birthday.

Walker - from Sweden
The Veloped Sport M 14er arrived in Travermünde on the Baltic Sea in early March 2021.
It enriched my life. By this I mean that I can walk again. I am an 80-year-old woman, and I would have liked to still be active and always around.

Thanks to the Veloped I have no more problems. It is a great invention. Thanks especially to Stefan Kindberg, his telephone consultation was fantastic.

I do not want to be without my Veloped anymore.

Finally, I can put my feet in the water again and walk on the sand, I no longer have to look at the beach only from the promenade. The two of us, the Veloped and I, went straight to the beach from day one, passing over gravel, mud, rocks, sand, and water, it's fantastic.

If you go shopping with the Veloped, set it to city mode and walk the aisles of the supermarket without any problem. In city mode the Veloped is very agile, in mountain mode, however, it is less agile, but it is better for off-road.

I'm glad I chose the Veloped. I had read about this product on the internet a decade ago and thought that if I ever needed a walker, then I would get this one.

The Veloped is not cheap, but the money for your health is well invested in it.

Very good driving characteristics even on stony forest and country paths.
Easy removal of the wheels, so it can be stowed away in the car.
Very compact, the weight is a small disadvantage.

This review is totally voluntary!
I am 75 years old and I suffer from osteoarthritis, diabetes, and a heart issue. About six months ago, my wife and I decided to purchase a rollator from a well-known UK company. It was large and sturdy in design and I started using it and yes, it did help my mobility. But it was poorly made and after a few weeks, it was clear that the design could be improved. It was uncomfortable, it rattled and unless the surface was smooth and flat it was really hard work.

After some research, my wife discovered the Veloped range. We were drawn to the solid appearance, the large wheels, and video demonstrations of it being used in difficult terrain. She contacted Trionics via the website and found communication in English was straightforward and helpful. So we ordered a Veloped Sport 14er size M, with some extras including spare wheels and a pump. It arrived after about 10 days. Considering Trionic stated dispatch would be 3-5 days and UPS had to bring it from Sweden, the delivery was excellent and timely. The package was complete and as an added touch the pump and cane holder had been already fitted by Trionic.

Impressive.
I have been using it for three months now. Without exaggeration, it has changed my life. It is so comfortable. The large wheels and pneumatic tyres are silent and stable. The front wheel assembly is brilliant in that it easily overcomes kerbstones and bumps just as described. The braking system is super efficient and does take some getting used to, however. The grip handle height is easily adjustable and although I have yet to adjust the grips I do not see any problem. The seat is stronger than it looks, and the fact that it slides forward when I am walking to give me legroom is a brilliant yet simple design embellishment.

I do have a couple of minor issues. When the pump is stowed, it sometimes slides down the frame and catches my ankle. I could leave it indoors but that will be the day I need it! Sometimes the handlebar adjustment becomes slightly loose, causing the grip on that side to lower slightly which can be a nuisance when leaning on the handle or on rough terrain. It is easy to tighten but I would suggest that the tightening tool is kept in the basket pouch. The waterproof cover is excellent, of sound construction, but I find it awkward and fiddly to fit outside in the rain. Perhaps if I were younger and fitter…

I have tested the Veloped on different terrain and it makes short work of everything I have tried. Gravel pathways, which are supposed to be “wheelchair friendly* (Veloped is not a wheelchair of course), are not a problem with such large wheels. Smooth and rough grass and fields are fun to walk through. I have yet to try cobbles but I know where I can find some to test. Shingle pathways and soft sand are no obstacles. I have walked in the woods and the riverbank – photos of the terrain are attached! So, I go out for my daily walk with my camera equipment in the basket to the local quayside, sit on my Veloped, and take pictures of the fishing boats.

The Veloped is considered by some to be expensive. It is not cheap but it meets the test of quality. UK taxpayers with disabilities (including me) can claim VAT relief, which is substantial. I have been stopped by people in the street and in the woods who are impressed and, I think, a bit jealous! But to conclude, it is a life changer and I highly recommend it.

I would always choose it again...
Dear Ladies and Gentlemen, I was made aware of your product (Veloped) by a friend.

I am 75 years old. I have Parkinson's disease and have been dependent on a rollator for several years… These rollators did not last long, so I was always looking for something new.

I quickly found the right Veloped for me and was surprised how quickly the delivery was... The assembly was easy, and everything was done after a good quarter of an hour. I immediately did a lap with my Labrador Merle and was thrilled. Since then, we are both out and about 4 times a day. In wind and weather!

I am happy and glad that I own a Veloped Sport with big tires. I would always choose it again...

Fantastic Walkers and Velopeds
I have recently received my Trionic Sports Veloped, and the product itself is beautifully made and very sturdy. With its air-filled tyres and great design, it makes walking a joy!

The whole purchasing process was very straightforward and Trionic's customer service is brilliant. They provide free postage and free return if not happy.

Highly recommended.

It is a great companion that I was allowed to test for 14 days. I can only recommend it to everyone; you can overcome all obstacles with it. I am vision-impaired and because of that I move very uncertainly when outside, but thanks to my faithful companion, I can again participate in life independently.

Thanks to the Veloped Sport, I can maintain a natural upright posture that is very important. I can only recommend it to everyone.
